STORY 1
WILLIAM TELL: READING COMPREHENSION




A. What do you know about William Tell?  Write down your ideas.

B.  Look at the picture.  Describe it.  Make predictions about the story you are going to read.

B. Click on the link and follow the instructions.



1. Find the names of people and places.

2. List the artificial and natural landscape features.

3. Write down verbs in the third person singular form.



C. Read and listen to the story.  Compare your ideas in A with the events in the story.  What's the same?  What's different?



D. As you read the story, find words that match the definitions below.

VOCABULARY
Find the verb.

RIP VAN WINKLE: READING COMPREHENSION


1. Look at the picture.  Describe it.  What can you see?
2. What do you think is happening?
3. Can you make any predictions about the story you are going to read?

WILLIAM TELL AND OTHER STORIES - Oral presentation

Dear Year 5 students,

Your oral presentation for this term will be in the form of a dramatic presentation.  You must do the following:

1. divide yourselves into groups of five

2. choose a story from the book, "William Tell and Other Stories" that we've read in class

3.  each person must choose a character and say some of the lines

4. decide who will have the following responsibilities: director, stage manager, script writer, props, costume

5.  write the script - you can make any changes you think will be necessary

6. present the play - you can do the presentation inside or outside
