THE SPANISH ROYAL FAMILY
Felipe VI is the king of Spain.
His parents are King Juan Carlos, who was
king until 2014 when he abdicated, and Queen Sofia. He has
two sisters, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina.
King Felipe VI is married to Queen Letizia who was a journalist
before she married the king. They have
two daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia. Princess Leonor is the eldest child and the
first in line to the throne.
Infanta Elena was married
to Jaime de Maricharlar but they divorced in 2010. They have two children, Felipe and Victoria.
Infanta Cristina is
married to Iñaki Urdangarín. They have
four children, Juan, Pablo, Miguel and Irene.
King Felipe’s grandfather was Infante Juan, Count of Barcelona. He was heir to the throne but was never king. Infante Juan married Princess María Mercedes in Rome in 1935. They had four children, Infanta Pilar, Juan Carlos, Infanta Margarita and Infante Alfonso who died in a gun accident.
